Free Digital Layouts

I have been busy slaving away making digital layouts in my spare time. I am planning on selling these layouts on an Etsy shop and on my site but I have many more to create. I have done some Christmas layouts, boy layouts and girl layouts. I am actually having fun creating the digital layouts. I am going to have to come up with a way to organize them all in my computer though. I am going to post them up and if any of you would like one of them shoot me an email at beth@scrappingwonders.com. I would be happy to send you one in the format that you need it in.

Challenging Photos

Does everybody get professional pictures done? You know the ones where you take your children to the studio to get pictures taken because you want to remember what they looked like during that particular stage in their life. How about the ones when they are playing a sport? Then you pay tons of money for pictures and hand them all out to the grandparents and aunts and uncles and still have tons of pictures sitting on your scrapbooking desk. These pictures then sometimes end up in a  frame and sometimes they end up in the same envelope they were in when you received the pictures.

I had a little bit of both going on at my house. I unearthed tons of professional photos the other day. The ones of the baby are pretty easy to time stamp but some of the ones that I have of my son forget about it. These pictures are just going to have to go into the album that I think it belongs to. Oh the problems of being an OCD chronological scrapbooker!

It was my goal this weekend to get as many of these pictures scrapbooked as I could as they were just lying around in envelopes and the world wasnt seeing any of them. Some of them I even forgot about. I ended up getting 14 layouts done and put into the appropriate scrapbooks or at least I am going to continue telling myself they are in the appropriate scrapbooks.

The point is that even for an OCD chronological scrapbooker like me it is fairly easy to get these photos scrapbooked so that way the family can enjoy them and there not just sitting in their picture envelopes. These photos are sized large (5×7 or 8×10) so the photos take up space on a 12×12 layout. I placed the photos on some complimentary paper, threw a few embellishments on them and did some journaling. I believe that some of these photos tell the story themselves. The majority of my journaling on these pages were my hopes and dreams that I have for my wonderful children.

I will post a few of them for you to see how quickly you can scrapbook these photos. What do you all do with the professional pictures that you get done?

Quick and Easy Layouts in Progress

If you have been following my blog then you have read me write on several occasions that I believe in getting the layouts completed quickly and easily. I am not saying that I don’t spend time on my layouts because I do. One thing I don’t do is over think my layouts. I get my pictures and find the best paper to complement them. Then I crop them accordingly and stick them down. I am not going to say my method is the best method but when you have two monsters to take care of and work full-time, my method seems to work.  I wanted to share with you all the steps that I take to get a layout completed.

  1. Organize my pictures (I organize my stuff chronologically and as I do this I place the pictures in order that I would like them on a page).
  2. Crop the pictures that are going to go on the layout if they need to be
  3. Pick the best paper that is going to make my pictures pop or match with my pictures
  4. Decide if I am going to want any big embellishments on the page so that I can leave room for the embellishment
  5. Stick the pictures down
  6. Title my page
  7. Journal my story
  8. Embellish

Before I know it my layout is done and is ready to go in an album!!! I always have a sense of accomplishment once I have fully completed a layout. Here are some of the layouts that are a work in progress that I completed in about 2 hours. The only thing that I have left to do is add some embellishments to these pages. All these pages are from my 2010 album that I am currently working on. As usual I am a few years behind in my scrapbooking. My motto is that being behind in my scrapbook gives me the ability to enjoy my memories all over again!

Amazingly Old

I am going to be brave and share with you some of my layouts that I have done over 10 years ago! The good thing is that my layouts have lasted this long! Some of my layouts are just flat-out plain and other layouts are just down right busy and not busy in a good way. LOL I’m ok with that though and I am proud to say that my children will have something to look back at and remember their childhood!

Some background on me. I started scrapbooking in 1999 when a friend of mine invited me to creative memories party. It was love at first layout! I bought everything that I could and was happily on my way to scrapbooking. The only knowledge I had of scrapbooking was the knowledge that I gained at that party.

As I have grown with my scrapbooking over the years I have learned that I don’t only have to use creative memories products but that there are some things that I will only use creative memories products. For instance all of my albums will always be creative memories albums just because they are guaranteed and I like the style of them. I hate the post bound albums because they are just not fun to put together for me.

Looking back at my layouts I have realized that my style of scrapbooking is more about simple scrapbooking and getting the pictures and the journaling on the page. Lets face it that is the point of scrapbooking (at least that’s my opinion) :). I pick the pictures, I pick the right paper, I figure out where my title and journaling is going to go and then stick everything down. Then I decorate! Don’t get me wrong I love embellishments but when you work full-time and you have two monsters you have to fit scrapbooking in where you can! I tend to have a let’s get it done kind of attitude!

I have definitely progressed over their years and I believe that my recent layouts are just wonderful. I also don’t believe in redoing any of my old layouts they are a part of me and a part of family. I am proud of my old layouts and so is my big monster that even at 13 he will still show some of his friends his scrapbooks. I also have posted some other older layouts in my Gallery maybe you will get some laughs from them.

P.S. Please forgive me I am still working on taking pictures of my paper scrapbooking layouts 🙂
